PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Our Training Manager, Alan Pennock is a qualified maintenance electrician; having gained experience of electrical control systems during installation, commissioning & maintenance of automated machinery for various industrial machine manufacturers.

In 2003, Alan completed his CompEx Ex01-Ex04 Certificate of Core Competence for working in potentially explosive gas/vapour environments. In 2009 he added CompEx Ex05 & Ex06 for combustible dust environments to his portfolio.

Having a passion for continuous professional development, Alan became an Approved CompEx Assessor in 2013, while working for a global ATEX Notified Body. He was responsible for assessing the competence of electrical and instrument personnel working in gas/vapour and dust environments.

Alan then took a break from hazardous area assessing, focussing on delivering electrical installation and maintenance training for a local engineering apprenticeship training provider, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. A role that allowed Alan to develop his unique teaching style.

Along with his role as Training Manager at VTraQ, Alan works part-time as a trainer/assessor for a local CompEx Training Centre in Teesside, where he is responsible for CompEx Assessments and delivery of the Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) Course.
